Grandmommy!! I'm so scared the tree's outside are a blowing and the screen door is a swinging! School was called off can you believe that? Momma is out of town and poppa is at work and won't be home till tomorrow so I'm all alone with Muffy Doodles. She's really afraid I can see it in her eyes. She won't stop barking and is lying in the corner of the living room with her head buried under the blankies. How am I suppose to be brave when big ole Muffy ain't? I'm watching TV and that's the only thing keeping my mind off the hurling winds out side. The weather man keeps bringing up warnings and watching and it’s so confusing! I'm glad Mrs. Muhlenforth taught us though that a watch is when it could happen due to the surrounding weather conditions, there for they just want us to watch out. A warning on the other hand grandmommy is when the conditions were spotted right near our area and is heading for us so they want us to start taking precautions. Grandmommy where is pop? Remember what I told you, if you see any signs make sure he gets inside quick! Here's a catchy way to remember, "When thunder roars, go indoors!" O just incase your wandering I went out yesterday and got all my essentials to make sure that I had everything for this storm. Officials say that I should have lots of water and canned food. I should also have extra batteries, a radio, and flashlights handy. A first aid kit is major when a storm is on its way! The weather men say that ya should have medicine, band aids, gloves, hand cleaners, and tweezers in your kit. Around your house you should have extra blankets, clothes, and foot wear. They also advise you to keep credit cards, and medical cards handy. Lots of information huh grandmommy? Aren't ya glad you’re not in school anymore? O one last thing about pop, make sure he stays away from water, met***WEATHER ADVISORY, POWER IS GOING OUT AND HAS HIT YOUR AREA, WE ARE WORKING TO GET IT BACK UP. PLEASE CALL YOUR ELECTRICAL COMPANY TO REPORT AN OUTAGE.*** OH my good ness! Grandmommy that was so scary! The lights flickered on and off then went off and stayed that way for 2 hours! I got so hungry and couldn't get any of the cans opened since the can opener is powered by electricity. I ended up having to eat fruit, yucky! Poor Muffy Doodles had to go to the bathroom so bad but I wouldn't let her out! I know it was mean but as I was going to the door to let her out a bolt of lightning struck the tree right in front of the house. I took a picture of it, take a look! But as I was saying before make sure pop stays away from water, metal, cars as well, and trees! Those things are most prone to be hit by the bolts of lightning. It's also very important to know meeting places between your family and yourself. Safety advisors tell you to know emergency phone numbers, safety rules, drills and where the food and water are located. Ya won't believe it grandmommy it was raining and all but it got so cold that now it's hailing! Interesting fact coming your way... hail can be larger than a softball and can cause more then 1 million dollars in crop and property damage a year! That’s a whole lot of damage and a whole lot of money! This may even be a severe storm! To be in the severe category the storm has to produce hail that is at least 1 inch in diameter, winds above 58 mph, or a tornado. Well the winds are already up to about 37 mph and its only been about 15 minutes into the storm, so I can't imagine what the wind speed will be in another 15 minutes. The hail is also about a penny size right now, so when it gets up to a quarter size it'll be a severe storm, SCARY! Alright grandmommy I'm going to get off now and do some of my homework from last night that I didn't do before the lights go out so I love ya and pop so much and will keep ya updated! Stay in side xoxo.
