Hey Sarah,
I am loving New Orleans. I have been really busy enjoying myself with family. But I don’t think I am going to enjoy it for a long period of time because I just found out that we are getting hit by a category 4 hurricane! Its name is Katrina. Such a pretty name for such a deadly disaster. Because it is a very dangerous hurricane, we might even have to move inland to survive the storm.
Wait… do you even know what a hurricane is? Hurricane is an Western Indian name for “big wind”. They are huge cyclones that develop over warm, tropical waters. To put it into simple words, water rises from the ocean and dumps incredible amounts of rain and dangerous winds on land. The winds have to be atleast 74mph to be categorized as a hurricane, and they can go all the way upto 250mph! The winds are so strong that they wipe off roof tops and mobile homes. Here is an idea of how a hurricane looks like. Looks scary to me! If you want to learn more about hurricanes click HERE.
Don't worry, I'll be safe. I will keep you updated on what is happening during the storm.
