Nor'Easter Day 2 - Summer

NOR'EASTER DAY 2

Dear Mikayla,
The storm has hit and as predicted, it has been pretty fierce. The band competition was pronounced canceled yesterday but we are still stuck at the hotel. The amount of snow here is absolutely crazy. I have never seen so much snow at once! It has only been snowing for a day now and we already have 2 1/2 feet of snow. It is a state of emergency so no one is allowed to drive on the roads. some people are even stuck in the office. I checked the weather channel again this morning and found out that there are hurricane Force winds causing a lot of damage. These winds reached over 70 mph, faster than the speed limit on most highways! Yesterday, my mom and I went shopping for everything that we would need. I looked online for a Family Disaster Survival Kit and I've included the link for you to see here. Some of the the items that it says are nessisary to have is one gallon of water per person per day for about three days. Other things include penty of canned foods and drinks, high energy foods such as trail mix, crackers, granloa and peanutbutter. Also a first aid kit with these following items included:
q Sterile adhesive bandages in assortedsizesq
2-inch sterile gauze pads (4-6)
4-inch sterile gauze pads (4-6)
Hypoallergenic adhesive tapeq Triangular bandages (3)

3-inch sterile roller bandages (3 rolls)

(this list is from http://www.njredcross.org/safetyCenter/disasterSupplyKit.pdf)

The other main things to have besides food, water and first aid is proper clothing and bedding for the weather expected. Ic think that we are well prepared and now we just have to wait out this awful storm.
