Hurricanes Kelsey

Dear Aunt Donna,

It seems like forever since I last talked to you. I'm surprised you have not called recently.Due to all that is in the news reports they have said that there is going to be a big hurricane heading our way. Here in Florida we seem to get hit by them all the time. You are probably freaking out right now, but please don't I and the family are going to handle things very well. To let you know that is everything is going to be just fine, I did a little research to let you know what is really going on.

Hurricanes are one of the most popular storms that form in Florida. They are formed by tropical cyclones that circulate in counter clockwise directions. There are high winds that start a hurricane, these winds consists of 64 knots which is 74 miles per hour. Not only are hurricanes formed by just wind they are formed by various other things. Simple complexes of various storms create this scary weather that we get. Although these storms can only grow by the ocean and the atmosphere. In Florida there are so many beaches and oceans surrounding us, its very hard to just ignore these hurricanes.

There are various things that create a hurricane. The hurricanes air mass consists (click here to veiw more)of low pressured systems that consists of many thunderstorms. When wind speeds exceed to up to 74 miles per hour, yes indeed this is considered a hurricane. One of the weakest hurricanes consist of 74-95 miles per hour, this is considered to be a category one. Category 5 is the highest winds that we get and the highest, most dangerous hurricane. These have wind speeds greater then 155 miles per hour. I'm surely hoping the hurricane we will be getting shortly will not be as sever as those ones. To figure out when the storm will be hitting us we can tell by the way the clouds look. Usually before the storm the clouds will start to change shapes and become very dense, and make the sky dark colors. When the wind starts picking up , the weather will suddenly change. It could be a gorgeous day out on the beach and a couple hours later the temperature could drop in an instant. Well the family is getting ready to head out to the store to stock up on some food. I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Love, Kelsey
